On its blog, Pornhub reveals key statistics about one of America's favorite pastimes: pornography! Watching porn is something that many of us do but a lot fewer admit to doing at all. According to data from Pornhub, one of the world's largest porn sites, porn viewers are watching more gay porn in the 'traditional' Deep South than anywhere else in the country.

There are some caveats. California and New York rank high up there. But wouldn't you expect that from these 'liberal' states which are home to two of the country's most historically gay cities, New York City and San Francisco? The fact that those in the Deep South are even in the same league is surprising! Why might this be?

Pornhub, upon getting prompted by Buzzfeed, compared the gay porn watching habits of those in states where same-sex marriage is legal to those where it is not.

Interestingly, the data show that the percentage of viewers who watch gay porn in states which have legalized same-sex marriage is slightly higher than for those states where same-sex marriage is not yet recognized. But the difference is only slight and there are inconsistencies among states, so it doesn't seem like a general trend.

What do you think accounts for a higher percentage of viewers in the Deep South watching gay porn? Let us know in the comments!
