According to a statement released today by her office, California Attorney General Kamala Harris is seeking "judicial authorization" to deny the so-called "Shoot the Gays" ballot initiative, officially the Sodomite Suppression Act, further progress. With such authorization, she would not issue a title and summary, presumably needed in order for the proposal to start collecting signatures in support of its being on the ballot in 2016.

Harris called the ballot initiative "patently unconstitutional, utterly reprehensible" and said it "threatens public safety...and has no place in a civil society."

The fate of this proposal is now in the hands of the California State judiciary. Perhaps if this goes through, they will also let the Intolerant Jackass Act ballot initiative through as well!
