The UK Teens Were Bullied By The Very People Meant To Protect Them

A research report released recently shows that one in five LGBT male teenagers in Britain are subjected to homophobic bullying, not by other students, but by teachers or other adults at school.

The report, called the “Boys Who Like Boys” report, produced by the National AIDS Trust (NAT) surveyed over one thousand LGBT males between the ages of 14 and 19. The survey asked them questions about everything from sex to relationships to their education.

Over half, specifically 55%, of those surveyed revealed that they had been bullied or even discriminated against because of their sexual identity or orientation. What's even more shocking is that many of those, fully 39% of respondents, said that an adult, such as a teacher, was the person responsible for bullying. 

The adults are the very people who are supposed to be protecting these kids. It's unbelievable that the people they rely on for their defense are the same people who are actually causing them harm. This is a sad truth.
